One Day Guest Lecture on “Distributed Data Mining Design and Applications in Today’s Information Era” was conducted on 28th December 2016, in association with GEC CSI Student Branch, in Department of computer Science and Engineering in Gudlavalleru Engineering College. For this Guest Lecture Ms. Aruna G, lecturer, Dept of CS & IS, BITS, Pilani, Goa Campus acts as Resource persons. In this Guest Lecture about the talk : In today’s information era, a tremendous amount of data are getting collected with a very high rate at different locations by various scientific projects, business organizations, social sites etc. These data may not be useful and hard to interpret unless it is analyzed efficiently and accurately. Hence, data mining is becoming very much popular to deal with such a huge amount for the knowledge discovery. In this, traditional approach i.e. centralized processing of data sets to find out the hidden patterns in it. Therefore, distributed computing becomes very important for efficient data mining, both in terms of space and time. This can be done by developing a mechanism to mine the massive data by applying data mining in a non-centralized way that distribute the work load seamlessly among the available sites.
